MCSM Unreleased Music Files to be Move to Archived Website

Minecraft: Story Mode is a Minecraft-based game distributed by TellTale Games, as a collaboration with Mojang Studios (then Mojang). With a total of 2 seasons, the 13 episodes were released from 2015 to 2017. Within the wake of TellTale's bankruptcy and closure in 2018, Minecraft: Story Mode slowly but steadily got pulled from physical stores in June 2019, and even got taken off Netflix back in December 2022.

Ever since the company shut down, Minecraft: Story Mode's old files, although seemed difficult to access, were able to be recovered to prevent it from being lost to time. From Megathread's free digital copies to textures and assets, the fandom wanted to preserve such important relics.

One of the most important lost and archived assets was the Unreleased Music, by Antimo and Welles, the composers for the game's most memorable and iconic soundtracks. Over the years, they have released remixes, as well as the Story Mode Archives, a collection of unused or unreleased soundtracks.

The need to preserve lost Story Mode media is where the channel "MCSM Unreleased Music" comes into play. Run by YouTuber Mancrafts (mainly known as Lil Nicky), the Unreleased Music channel, which is NOT affiliated with Antimo and Welles, posts soundtracks from Minecraft: Story Mode that are either unreleased (Not uploaded to the Antimo and Welles channel) or unused (Not used in the game). The point of this channel is to preserve and archive music to prevent it from being lost forever, for the sake of the fan's enjoyment.

However, since the channel was uploading music that didn't belong to them, it was no surprise that it would be the target of copyright infringement on YouTube.

On August 2, 2025, a number of videos were hit by a number of copyright takedown requests from Antimo and Welles. Mancrafts was given seven days to remove the videos, or else his channel would receive a copyright strike. Because there were more than three takedown requests, that means that if he didn't remove them all in seven days, the channel would be taken down.

Within the wake of this unexpected act, Mancrafts made several announcements to the people in the official MCSM Unreleased Music Discord server, regarding the strikes.

With these copyright takedown requests in mind, it makes sense, due to the fact that Antimo and Welles legally owns these soundtracks, so they have the right to take them down. Therefore, it would only make sense for them to copyright strike more of the videos on this channel.

Because of this likely cause and effect prediction, Mancrafts then made the difficult decision to rebrand his Minecraft Story Mode channel, as announced in the Discord server and a video.

In the video titled, "Goodbye." Mancrafts basically summarized the situation about Antimo and Welles' copyright takedown requests.

Mancrafts even stated that, because of the takedown requests, he will no longer be able to upload more MCSM soundtracks in the future. Instead, the channel will be rebranded into making other MCSM related content. He even asked his audience not to harass or bully Antimo and Welles over the copyright strikes, as they have full legal ownership over the media.

Within the wake of the copyright removal requests, many people were wondering how the music would be preserved, now that Mancrafts can't upload it onto his YouTube channel. And he has created an alternative to this solution.

He will be creating a website that will be dedicated to archiving the soundtrack. Several websites, such as the Internet Archive, allow users to upload and preserve copyrighted media, in order to prevent it from being lost to time.

This is very similar to the MCSM: Megathread, an archived website dedicated to giving players free, playable, and downloadable version of Minecraft Story Mode. This was made for the fans who never got to buy it while it was still in stories.

Just like Megathread, the new and upcoming MCSM Unreleased Music website will be archiving and preserving those unreleased and unused soundtracks that were posted onto the original Unreleased Music YouTube channel. That way fans can go to the website and continue listening to and downloading the soundtracks they've always loved.

As of August 5, 2025, Mancrafts has the removed videos saved onto his computer, further assuring his audience that their beloved soundtracks aren't lost forever.

This new and upcoming archive website has not been published as of now, but more updates will come, as time progresses. But for now, the audience will prepare to say goodbye to a beloved channel that brought them beautiful music, and open the doors to a new era of content dedicated to their favorite game.
