For many months, Ken Tracer, animator and creator of Minecraft Story Mode: World’s Edge, has been working on a prequel to their iconic series, titled “First Blocks”, an origin story that takes the viewer to the lives and adventures of Jesse and her friends before the Wither Storm.
The trailer for First Blocks was released on November 16, 2024, giving the audience their very first look at the series. The description goes as follows -
"First blocks are a new series that focuses on Jesse and her friends and how they became the best of friends. This takes place years before Telltales Season 1 and it will show the rise and fall of the old Order of The Stone, how Jesse finds herself, and how Lukas and Jesse became Rivals."
Although it generated some incredible hype, Ken Tracer confirmed that the trailer was merely a concept on what they wanted the series to be about.
For many months after that, there have been occasional updates with some teaser renders and animation tests.
On August 30, 2025, Ken Tracer provided a new big update, regarding the progress of First Blocks on the MCSM World’s Edge Discord server.
In simpler terms: First Blocks is finally entering its concept phase.
For the many months between the trailer’s release and now, Ken Tracer and their wonderful team have been working hard behind the scenes to develop a good story for First Blocks. In order to keep the audience hooked, Ken Tracer released some concept renders and animations that consist of ideas on what First Blocks will be about.

After many months of hard work, effort, and improvement in lighting and animation, Ken Tracer has released a number of concept videos, which according to them, “may or may not be in the final product”.
As First Blocks finally shifts into its concept phase, this means that the team will finally be working on “script writing, animations, lighting, voice acting, and other digital arts are concepts which may or may not be in the final product”.
“We are now going to be going through the hoops of what we will use and what we will not use,” Ken Tracer also wrote in their announcement.
With the project coming forward with real effort, we will be expecting more updates within weeks, as Ken Tracer continues to work harder to produce First Blocks.
